Statistical Analysis with Transfers and Injury History- Andi Zeqiri

Andi Zeqiri’s goal-scoring ability was evident from a young age with 17 goals in 33 games for Lausanne’s reserve squad during the 2019-20 Swiss Challenge League season. His first full professional season began the following year when he was signed by Premier League club Brighton for €4 million. Despite limited opportunities he earned vital experience in England’s top division.

He was given more playing time by Augsburg after Loan moved to Lausanne. In 22 Bundesliga games for Augsburg in 2021-22 he scored two goals. His latest revival has occurred in Genk where he has already matched last season’s tally of seven goals in just 30 appearances in the 2023-24 Belgian Pro League.

Andi Zeqiri has scored 50 goals in 187 club appearances across domestic divisions and tournaments, averaging one every 3.7 games. His best performance this season was an 8.5 match rating in Genk’s 2-1 victory over Anderlecht in April. He has also tallied 21 assists over his career.

While Andi Zeqiri was not a prolific scorer for Switzerland’s youth teams he got vital experience representing his country at the U15 to U21 levels implying that a senior call-up could be on the way if his hot run continues.

Transfer Trail Andi Zeqiri’s itinerant professional path has seen him accumulate air miles through a number of loan and permanent transfers. After joining Juventus’ academy from Lausanne in 2016, he returned to his first club on loan the following year. His accomplishments in Switzerland quickly piqued Premier League interest.

In October 2020 Brighton shelled out €4 million to sign the teenage prodigy. However, he managed just 9 appearances in England before being loaned out twice – first back to Lausanne for the second half of 2020/21, then to Bundesliga’s Augsburg for the entire 2021-22 season where he gained valuable top-flight experience.

Last summer, Andi Zeqiri joined Swiss side Basel on a season-long loan deal. But that was cut short in January when Belgian club Genk paid Brighton around €2.8m to sign him permanently on a three-and-a-half year deal. It has proved an astute investment so far, with Zeqiri establishing himself as Genk’s first-choice striker, scoring 7 goals in his first 14 league starts for the club.

Injuries & Fitness Concerns While Andi Zeqiri has proven himself a reliable goalscorer when fit his career has been punctuated by a few niggling injury layoffs. Most recently, he was ruled out for nearly two weeks in February-March 2022 due to an illness.

He missed nearly two weeks of the 2021–22 Augsburg season due to an injury sustained in December. Barring any other unforeseen setbacks, the youthful frontman should be in excellent shape to lead the charge for Genk next season as they compete for a European position.
