Rajkot, Feb 25: Young Indian wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel displayed maturity beyond his years, declaring he has “no regrets” about missing out on a century in the ongoing Ranchi Test against England. Jurel’s focus, he emphasized lies solely on contributing to India’s series victory.

Jurel emerged as India’s savior rescuing the team from an untenable position with a stunning 90-run knock on day three. His performance reduced England’s first-inning lead to a manageable 46 runs lifting India out of a dangerous 177/7 situation. He formed key partnerships with Kuldeep Yadav (40 runs) and Akash Deep (10 runs) before falling to Tom Hartley’s bowling.

This 23-year-old Dhruv Jurel disclosed the secret to his successful connection with Kuldeep Yadav during a post-match press conference:

“It’s my first series, so there’s some pressure. But I concentrated on what the team needed at that time. Kuldeep and I have a terrific rapport we both come from Uttar Pradesh and corresponded frequently during our partnership. While missing a century in Ranchi is a squandered chance it does not bother me. My ultimate goal is to celebrate a series victory with the team and simply playing Test cricket for my nation is a dream come true.”

Jurel already showed off his batting skills with a gutsy 46 in his debut Test game in Rajkot.

“Great Environment in the Indian Team”

Sunil Gavaskar who is the well-known Indian opener praised Dhruv Jurel and compared him to the iconic MS Dhoni. Jurel responded to the analogy with thanks, saying

“Hearing words of support from a legend like Sunil Gavaskar is extremely encouraging. The environment among the Indian team is excellent. They encouraged me to devote as much time as possible to the crease.”

While India enjoys a comfortable 40-0 lead in their second innings pursuit of 192 runs. they are cautious of England’s ability to fight back. The visitors displayed their resilience by successfully defending a modest 230-run goal in the opening Test in Hyderabad. Regardless of their current advantage Captain Rohit Sharma and his troops will most certainly take the next days seriously.
