History was made for the Indian Women Cricket as the national team won twice in England, winning 3-2 series in T20Is and 2-1 series in ODIs. The tour, which lasted a month (June 28 to July 22, 2025), played in the classic English grounds, hit a remarkable change in rhythm in international women cricket.
The performance itself was one to remember, not only because of the increasing depth and resilience of the team but it also indicated a golden era in the history of Indian Women Cricket as the ICC Women Cricket World Cup 2025 awaits the nation later this year.
The Rise of Indian Women’s Cricket
The Indian Women team has been in a transformation wave, and this has occurred under the influence of domestic changes, star power, and the establishment of the Women Premier League (WPL) in 2023. The WPL has also established a pipeline of raw talent, and the players have managed to handle high-pressure games and matches played at a rapid pace.
Having the right mix between youth and experience, the Indian team in England has been a group that is deep, strategic and flexible, whose qualities have changed considerably in recent years. This is not a single extraordinary performance during this tour, as there is a bigger revolution in women’s cricket in India.
Right up to a fearless strokeplay of Shafali Verma, ascents of young talents in the WPL like Titas Sadhu and Charani on pitches in a foreign land, the WPL has re-discovered a new breed of athletes who are eager to take the big stage. The new success of India is also abacus on the back of an advanced domestic system, better fitness regimes, and exposure to high performance in A-tours and ICC tournaments.
The coach Amol Muzumdar has also focused on data-based preparation and situational work that can be seen in Indian better producing death bowling and successive strikes in the middle overs.
