Puducherry captain Aman Khan just etched his name into the cricket record books. And it’s for something no bowler wants. He conceded a staggering 123 runs from his 10 overs. This happened in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match. It’s now the most expensive spell ever in men’s List A cricket. This all went down against Jharkhand in Ahmedabad.
A Tough Day at the Office
The match itself was pretty brutal for Puducherry. Jharkhand batted first. They piled on a massive 368 for 7. Kumar Kushagra smashed a century. Anukul Roy played an amazing knock too. Roy hit 98 runs. He needed just 53 balls for that. And he really took a liking to Aman Khan’s bowling. Roy whacked seven sixes off Khan. That alone was 59 runs from Aman’s deliveries. Jharkhand’s batters were just on fire, seems like.
Aman, bowling medium pace, finished with figures of 1-123. His economy rate was a hefty 12.3. He was one of only three Puducherry bowlers to complete their full 10 overs. But it didn’t really help the team much. Puducherry tried to chase. They were bowled out for 235. Khan even batted at number six. He scored a quick 28 off 24 balls. But then his nemesis, Anukul Roy, ran him out. You know, just adding insult to injury.
Breaking Records, Not Just the Old Ones
This new record by Aman actually broke a pretty recent one. The previous most expensive spell was by Mibom Mosu. Mosu played for Arunachal Pradesh. He gave away 116 runs in nine overs. That was against Bihar. That happened earlier in December 2025. Also in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, by the way. So, this tournament has seen some really big scores lately.
That Mosu match was famous for another reason. A 14-year-old kid, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, scored a century. He made 190 runs. That made him the youngest List A centurion ever. So yeah, some crazy stuff has been happening in Indian domestic cricket. It’s wild, honestly.
CSK’s New Recruit Under the Spotlight
What’s interesting is that Aman Khan is a fairly known player. He’s an all-rounder. He was just picked up by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the IPL 2026 auction. They paid INR 40 lakh for him. This was earlier this month. That’s a good amount of money.
This will be his third IPL team, actually. He started with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022. Then he played for Delhi Capitals in 2023. He’s played 11 IPL games total. He’s scored 115 runs and got one fifty. But he hasn’t taken any wickets in IPL yet. He’s only bowled once, actually.
He made his List A debut back in 2021 for Mumbai. Then he moved to Puducherry. It’s a journey, right? And now this. According to ESPN, this record is verified. It’s certainly a verified record, as confirmed by Hindustan Times, too.
It’s a bit of a contrast for CSK, really. Another one of their new recruits, Ramakrishna Ghosh, had a fantastic game. He took seven wickets for 42 runs. That was in another Vijay Hazare Trophy match. So, one day you’re getting hammered. The next, your teammate is shining. That’s cricket for you, I guess. Wisden also reported on Aman’s unwanted record.
So, Aman Khan now holds this unusual record. It’s definitely not what he or CSK hoped for. But it’s part of the game. And he’ll be looking to put this behind him. Especially with the IPL coming up. It’ll be interesting to see how he bounces back. He’s a young player, after all.
