Barcelona Miss Out on Roony Bardghji: A Lost Talent or a Bullet Dodged?

In the 2025 summer transfer window, Barcelona has been pretty active about their transfers and link ups with the players for going all guns blazing next season. After the signing of Joan Garcia this season in order to address their long lasting Goalkeeping issues with their Main goalkeeper, Marc Andre Ter Stegen seeming to lose his touch under the sticks.

After that signing, Barcelona fast tracked the signing of Roony Bardghji, a 19 year old winger from FC Copenhagen of Danish Super Liga for just over €2 million along with the sell on clause included for FC Copenhagen.

Roony Bardghji- Personal Story and Copenhagen Love story

Roony Bardghji is a right winger who has represented Sweden in Under 17 and Under 21 category. Although he represented Sweden in the age categories, he’s a boy of Kuwaiti Origin. He is born in Kuwait City to a Syrian family who moved to Sweden for better living.

He started his Youth career at Kallinge SK where he played for 4 from 2012-2015 , then he moved on to Rödeby AIF where he played 4 years from 2015-2018 before moving to Malmö FF where he showed his promising talent after joining in 2019 and stayed there for an year till 2020, after which FC Copenhagen spotted him and brought him into their youth team where he impressed the club which gave him a chance to play in the senior team of Copenhagen.

He debut for the senior team against AGF in the Danish Super Liga in the year 2021 and created record after being the youngest player featuring in that team aged 16 years and 6 days and also he scored his first goal as well against AaB in a 3-1 win just seven days later after his debut.

Bardghji’s UCL nights

Roony Bardghji made his Uefa Champions League debut in 2022 when he came off the bench in a 3-0 defeat against Sevilla. Although he had to wait for an entire year to score his first goal which was a match winner in a 4-3 win against Manchester United.

He has all total experience of 6 matches in the UEFA champions league with 1 goal only to his name. Although there’s a lot of time left in his career as he’s just 19 and with joining Barca now, we can expect the improvement of the player under Hansi Flick.

Roony Bardghji – Make or Break move for Barcelona

As Roony is a right winger and also has the age by his side along with European experience, he can be a pretty good option for Hansi Flick on the right as a backup of Lamine Yamal and also can add depth into the squad. He is a perfect fit to replace Lamine.

He has a pretty good dribbling feet , passing sense and creates immense number of opportunities for the team and also he has got a knack of scoring as well and with all these dynamics, Barcelona fans will enjoy him thoroughly if he gets going.

Along with these promises, there’s a huge sense of uncertainty buzzing around the Barcelona dressing room just because of his major ACL injury last season and his limited time this season which may create a problem with his form this season and Barca team managers may have a close eye on this situation.

What can the Culers expect from this signing.

Barcelona fans can be optimistic about this signing as Roony can be a pivotal in the team’s performance as he may not be a through and through starter in presence of Lamine Yamal but he can match the same quality if Flick decides to give rest to Lamine in some games this season.

As of today, Roony Bardghji has already completed his medical test in Barcelona and he will be travelling with the first team and he will complete his pre season with them and with the training structure of Hansi Flick, he may become the player he promised to be. So, Culers should feel excited for Roony Bardghji.
