Borussia Dortmund is always on the hunt for promising young players. It looks like the German giants are pretty busy again. Recent transfer rumors are swirling, linking them with a bunch of up-and-coming names. They seem to be scouting across Europe, from England to Denmark. It’s all about finding that next big star, isn’t it?
Dortmund Eyes Premier League Prospects Oscar Bobb and Jobe Bellingham
One name that’s popping up a lot is Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb. The 22-year-old Norwegian international is apparently on Dortmund’s radar. Other English clubs, like Fulham and Crystal Palace, are also interested. Sources say Bobb is seen as underutilized at City. A YouTube news summary even mentioned Dortmund monitoring him. But there are no confirmed bids yet, you know, as of late December 2025. It’s just a lot of talk right now, according to talkSPORT and ESPN reports.
Then there’s Jobe Bellingham. Yes, another Bellingham. Borussia Dortmund is reportedly keen on signing him from Sunderland. Sky in Germany reported this. Dortmund bosses, including Lars Ricken and head coach Niko Kovac, were even in England recently. They were apparently holding negotiations. Jobe is under contract at Sunderland until 2028. His older brother Jude, you remember, made his name at Dortmund. He spent three years there before going to Real Madrid. Jobe has had a decent season, with four goals and three assists in 40 appearances. He’s really trying to make his own mark. It’s pretty cool to see.
Chelsea Loanees and Midfield Refresh
Dortmund also seems to be looking at Chelsea for potential loan deals. They’re interested in defender Aaron Anselmino. The Athletic said he had offers from other European clubs. But it seems Dortmund is a strong option. Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca confirmed a loan move was being planned for Anselmino. He’s only 20, and Maresca thinks “he needs to play games.” Anselmino did suffer some hamstring injuries. That’s impacted his playing time at Chelsea, you know.
And then there’s Carney Chukwuemeka, another Chelsea midfielder. Dortmund was interested in a January loan for him, with an option to buy. Chukwuemeka hasn’t gotten much game time at Chelsea. Head coach Enzo Maresca even advised him to leave last summer. He’s only made a few appearances this season, mostly in cup games. Dortmund’s midfield could use some fresh legs. Pascal Gross is 33, and Emre Can is turning 31. Chukwuemeka, at 21, fits their profile. He’s young, talented, and could thrive in a box-to-box role. He already spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Dortmund. Made 17 appearances then. So, they know him pretty well.
Scouting Widespread Talent and Striker Uncertainty
Dortmund’s scouting doesn’t stop there. They are reportedly interested in Victor Froholdt, a 19-year-old Danish midfielder from Copenhagen. Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg reported this. Froholdt is seen as a key player for Copenhagen. He’s pretty versatile, playing central or on the wing. And he’s got incredible fitness, making 50 appearances this season. His transfer value is around 2 million euros, so a low-risk bargain perhaps. He joins a long list of young players Dortmund is linked with, including Rayan Cherki, Luighi, Mikey Moore, and Juan Giminez. It’s quite a list, isn’t it?
Upfront, there’s also some talk about Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani. Bild reports Dortmund is interested. Asllani, a Kosovo international, has six goals and three assists this season. This interest comes amidst uncertainty surrounding Serhou Guirassy’s future. Guirassy’s form has apparently dipped. And his brother, who’s also his agent, has been offering him to clubs in Saudi Arabia. Guirassy also has a hefty €50m release clause, but only for top clubs. So, Asllani could be a backup plan if Guirassy moves on.
Borussia seems committed to their strategy. They’re always looking for young talent to develop. It’s pretty much their whole thing. This upcoming January and summer window should be interesting. They’re trying to rebuild and stay competitive, that’s for sure. Dortmund takes on St. Pauli in their first Bundesliga game of the season on Saturday, by the way. And Chelsea visits West Ham United on Friday. There’s a lot happening. You can check out more transfer rumors on this news summary.
