Cheatle started playing for the Australian national team in 2016, when she was 17 years old. She played her first one-day international match against New Zealand in February 2017. Her first twenty20 international was against India in January 2016.
Cheatle played 11 matches for the Australian national cricket team between 2016 and 2019. In the 2015-16 season, she played for the Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League. She took 18 wickets and was equal 4th for most wickets that season. Cheatle was bowling when the Thunder won the first ever Women’s Big Bash League final.
After that season, Cheatle joined the Sydney Sixers team for the 2017-18 Women’s Big Bash League. In December 2023 she made her debut playing Test cricket for Australia against India.
