Vaibhav Suryavanshi Becomes Youngest List A Centurion With 190-Run Blitz in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old from Bihar, just made cricket history. He became the youngest player ever to score a List A century. It was a truly explosive innings that has everyone talking. This young talent, only 14 years and 272 days old, played an unbelievable knock in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

A Blazing Knock for the Record Books

Suryavanshi scored an incredible 190 runs. And he did it off just 84 balls. That’s a pretty fast strike rate, obviously. The match was against Arunachal Pradesh at JSCA Oval in Ranchi. He really hit the ball hard, with 16 fours and 15 sixes in his innings.

His century came up super fast, in only 36 balls. It included 10 fours and 8 sixes. That’s some serious hitting for a kid his age, or any age really. This was the second-fastest List A century by an Indian at the time, though it might have been surpassed since. But it was definitely the fastest for Bihar, which is a big deal for them. He even set another record, scoring the fastest recorded 150 in men’s List A cricket. He got there in just 59 balls. This beat AB de Villiers’ old mark of 64 balls, which is just insane when you think about it.

This young man, Suryavanshi, broke a pretty old record. The previous youngest List A centurion was Zahoor Elahi, who did it in 1986. Elahi was 15 years and 209 days old back then. Suryavanshi is even younger, which shows just how special this achievement is. You can see some of his incredible hitting in highlights like this YouTube clip.

Suryavanshi’s Journey: A Rising Star

This isn’t Suryavanshi’s first time making headlines. He’s already got quite a resume for someone so young. This List A match against Arunachal Pradesh was actually his seventh List A game. He debuted against Madhya Pradesh in December 2024. Before this, he had a bit of a tough time in the Under-19 Asia Cup final, but he clearly bounced back in a big way.

He’s been on everyone’s radar for a while now. In 2025, he became the youngest ever IPL auction pick. He was just 13 then, can you believe it? And he’s already scored an IPL century too, hitting 101 off 38 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans. He had a really good IPL season, scoring 252 runs in 7 games with a strike rate of 206.55. That’s a pretty good start to a T20 career, if you ask me. Apparently, his talent is quite clear to many, as showcased in various YouTube analyses.

But wait, there’s more. He also smashed a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, an unbeaten 108 off 61 balls against Maharashtra. And in youth cricket, he hit a 32-ball 100 in a T20 game during the Rising Stars Asia Cup. That’s tied for the sixth-fastest T20 century globally. His youth ODI stats are impressive too: 15 matches, averaging 51.13, with a strike rate of 158.79. He has two centuries and three fifties in that format. He’s really got a knack for big scores.

He now has four senior-level centuries, actually three in T20s. And he’s done all this before turning 15, which is just crazy. No one else has done that. ESPN also highlighted his rapid rise, noting his consistent performances across different formats, as reported by ESPN.

Bihar’s Big Score and What’s Next for Suryavanshi

Bihar had a pretty huge day overall in that match. They posted a massive total of 574 runs. That’s a really big score for any List A game. And Suryavanshi wasn’t the only one making quick runs. Sakibul Gani, another Bihar player, scored a 32-ball century in the same game. That was the fastest century by an Indian in List A cricket. It seems like the Bihar team really knows how to hit it big. This match was full of record-breaking performances, according to ESPN’s stats report.

Suryavanshi won’t be around for too many more Vijay Hazare Trophy matches, though. He’s expected to join the India Under-19 camp soon. It’s in Bengaluru. And it’s for the Under-19 World Cup, which starts on January 15, 2026, in Zimbabwe. So, he’s got a big future ahead, for sure. It’s pretty clear he’s going to be a key player for India’s youth side. Everyone’s really excited to see what he does next.

His future looks very bright. He’s a name to remember, for sure. Everyone’s pretty confident we’ll be hearing a lot more about Suryavanshi. It’s an exciting time for Indian cricket, with young talents like him coming through.
