After winning the tri-series against SA and SL, the Indian Women are ready to take up the next assignment in Nottingham against the hosts. India will play a 5-T20I match series alongside a 3-match ODI series in an ODI World Cup year, but it will be quite helpful for them to understand the conditions and to adapt for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which England will host.

Chance of Redemption for Indian Womens Seniors

The experienced all-rounder Sneh Rana is making a comeback after delivering terrific performances in the WPL and at the international level for India. Her inspiring comeback journey began in the WPL, where she made her debut for RCB and had a decent season. After that, Rana never looked back and always delivered when India needed.

For the flamboyant opener, Shafali Verma, this series will be most important because it is a transition phase for her from a teenage sensation to an experienced player. She will have to convert her strong start into an impactful and long innings. Verma has been performing well in domestic and international games; all she has to do in this series is to replicate the same form.

Radha Yadav is back in the squad in place of injured left-arm spin all-rounder Shuchi Upadhyay. It will be a significant chance for her to cement her position on the team. No doubt she’s a terrific fielder and bowler. It’s time for her to contribute in all aspects, especially with the bat. If she could do that and prove her mettle, then she would be an asset to the team.

Eyes on the Indian young guns

Everyone’s eyes will be on the domestic star and an emerging pacer, Kranti Goud. She got her maiden call-up for India against South Africa. Young pacer has been a consistent performer for her domestic team, Madhya Pradesh. In the recent Senior Women’s One Day Trophy, she clinched 15 wickets in 9 innings, including a 4-wicket haul in the final against Bengal.

This incredible performance helped her team rise victorious, and she won the POTM. Kranti did well in the WPL too, where she took a 4-wicket haul against the giants of the WPL (Delhi Capitals). If she continues to shine in this series as she did in the past, then she could be an integral part of the ODI and T20 World Cups.

Richa Ghosh will look forward to making this series big. She cemented her position for a long time, and she did well. Richa has the highest strike rate on the Indian team, despite coming in at no.5 or no.6 sometimes. She tried to play till the end, but the lack of power hitting from the middle order stopped her. This WPL has performed exceptionally well for her.

How can you forget where she wreaked havoc against DC by scoring 69 runs in just 27 balls? This season, she played with a staggering strike rate of 175, but with the glove, she looked off. On this tour, Indian fans would be eager to see his lightning glove work with the ruthless batting.

N Shree Charani is one of the top young talents of India. She made her debut in the Tri series against SL & SA. In the WPL, she attacked batters with her pace by controlling the flow of her run-up. Charani played in the Senior Women’s Multi-Day tournament, where she took 9 wickets in 3 games only. She became the first woman from the YSR district, Andhra Pradesh, to play for India. It is nothing but inspirational. If she is part of the playing XI, she can show the world why she is one of the top young talents for India.

India should change its brand of cricket in T20Is.

Last year was full of heartbreak for the Indian women’s team and the fans. They lost the final of the Asia Cup, where Athapaththu played the winning knock and clinched the title under the nose of the Indian team. After that, the group stage exit from the T20 WC 2024 was shocking.

They played average cricket; the fielding was poor, no support from the batting unit. If one wicket falls, the whole line-up crumbles. But that was the eye-opener for the team to improve the fielding and finally change the brand of cricket they play. The highest strike rate is 148 by Ghosh, which is acceptable, but others didn’t even cross 135. If India wants to win the 2026 T20 World Cup, it should develop their style of batting. This series would be the perfect start for that, as England will be the hosts for the World Cup.
