Kathryn Laura Cross was born on 3rd October 1991 in Manchester, Lancashire. She is an English cricketer known for her right-handed batting style and right-arm medium-fast bowling. Cross began her cricket career at a young age representing Heywood Cricket Club before joining the Lancashire Women’s senior side at the age of 13. She became the first female cricketer accepted into the Lancashire County Cricket Club (Lancashire Academy) at the age of 16. Cross made her England debut in 2011 but it would take nearly two years for her to appear in her first international match due to injury and form issues.

She finally stepped onto the field in an England jersey in the West Indies in October 2013 claiming four wickets in her first spell of bowling. Her Test debut occurred in Perth in early 2014 where she removed three of the Australian top order leaving the Australians reeling and contributing significantly to England’s victory. Cross finished with figures of 6 for 70 in the match.

Kate Cross has achieved notable milestones in her career including her first international five-wicket haul against New Zealand at Lincoln in February 2015. Although she excels in the longer forms of the game, she missed the 2016 World Twenty tournament due to poor performances in the shorter format. Cross has appeared in 8 Tests scoring 768 runs and taking 25 wickets. She played 59 One Day Internationals (ODIs) scoring 2001 runs and taking 79 wickets. In terms of her (T20I) games she has scored 371 runs and taken 11 wickets.

Kate Cross has also participated in various domestic leagues worldwide such as the Big Bash League (Australia), the Indian Premier League (India), and the Women’s Cricket Super League (UK). She has been a consistent performer for the Lancashire Thunder and has also represented teams like Perth Scorchers Women, Manchester Originals Women, Velocity, Northern Superchargers Women, and Royal Challengers Bangalore Women.
